However racing will be on cooler tracks in cooler weather for almost everyone. This means new challenges to your race car setups!

First, your engines will love the cooler weather. This is great because you will notice an increase in rpms and speed. The increase in power will alter your setups in how to get this power to the ground on cooler tracks with less grip! GQ Racing Tires has the answer for racers with their high technology "Soft Rim" tires.

Soft Rim doesn't mean a rim with softer plastic or thinner plastic as some brands try to have you believe. Those rims cause a tremdous problems in handling and setups. Stay away from those brands and you will not need to purchase asperin when running during the cooler weather.

GQ Racing tires "soft rims" is a technology developed by GQ's PHD staff. The outer portion of the rim is as stiff as their other Carbon or Pro Rims. The stiff outer portion allows the car to maintain speed on entrance and middle of the corner with consistent handling performance. From that outer rim point to the inner portion of the rim is where the plastic becomes softer. The thickness of the plastic is maintained. The planned softer plastic to the inner portion of the rim is done by a special formulation of plastic materials. Sounds expensive? Well actually the technology and the special formualtion has to be use with more costly plastic materials. Then the machinery to produce these rims has to be advanced high tech costly (very) production machines. This is why GQ Racing Tires is the only company in the world to produce the "Soft Rim" Technology. The soft innner portion of the rim has a controlled flex that will give the rear tires high traction under power coming out of turns and the fronts higher traction during the turn and when under power coming out of turns. Now here is the best part! These rims do not cost you any extra money! GQ Racing tires are the best value in the RC World today, tomorrow, and years from now. Try us You will like us!

Is this ultra traction with the soft rims noticeable? Yes it is. I don't care what level of skill you are as a driver traction in cold weather, bumpy tracks, loose tracks, and etc, will help your handling and your lap times. We are all racers and want to be faster. GQ Racing Tires gives you the selection in tire shores and in rims to make your car handle better and make you a better racer!

GQ uses the Soft Rim technology in Nitro 1:10th and 1:8th and electric 1:12th pan. We have most of these tire and rim selections in stock now. GQ Racing Tires in the USA is growing fast and we thank all of our loyal racers. We are increasing our inventories to try to be 100% in stock 100% of the time. We hope to at this point by 2012. We are now awaiting the arrival of the 1:12th tires in black rims, back up to our Nitro 1:10th, increase in inventory in M18Pro and F-1 Tires that fits Tamiya race cars and other similar F-1 cars.

Good Racing To All! So why is a tire distributor writing an article about the upcoming season of racing? What do tires have to do with the fall and winter racing?

Tires are actually very important topic for those racers taking outdoor action and battle during the fall and winter racing. And I don't know how many racers know that GQ Racing Tires are going into their second season of presenting a tire line especially designed for this time of the year. The tire line is for 1:10th Nitro Sedan cars and the line is called "Soft Rims" (AS).

I believe some of the lack of use of these tires last year is because erroneous information about what "Soft Rims" mean and how they are designed and work on the track. Of course competition companies love to offer misleading information because there is no RC tire manufacturer or company other than GQ that has the knowledge of plastic formulations and machinery to produce rims like GQ Racing Soft Rims. Most forget GQ is a huge plastic and rubber company (30 years) that is known worldwide for their expertise in developing formulations in plastics and rubbers.

So what is the soft rim?

The soft rim (AS) is designed to be used during cooler weather, bumpy tracks, and low traction tracks. The design is in the plastic formulation. The outer edge has the same hardness as our regular (A) rim. This ensures that the car can make and react as fast as our normal rims(A) in fast and slow turns. After the outer edge and moving to the inner edge, the plastic is made with a different plastic formulation that has a set percentage of softer material when formulated than our regular rims (A).

This plastic formulation allows the inner portion of the rim to have the correct amount of flex that allows when "on power" coming out of corners you have full contact patch on the ground for excellent grip and acceleration. This flex also gives racers excellent grip to make the turns faster (especially middle of corner) which means higher speeds at end of straights.

So when using the GQ Racing Soft Rims in cooler weather, bumpy tracks and low tractions tracks, speed will not be compromised as compared to using standard tires.

Hints:

1.) Try using combination of Soft Rims with standard tires. If the weather is cool enough to give you problems under quick acceleration but steering is still good, use the Soft rim in the rears only.

2.) When using the "Soft Rims", you use the same shores as you would under similar track conditions. Trying to just use regular tires by using softer shores doesn't work!! You just increase wear and run through your tires faster. This is just throwing money out the window. Soft Rims are the same cost as the regular rim tires.

If you have any questions please write to me and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have! Remember the only dumb question is the one not asked!!

Good Racing To All!

Mike Gee Signs With GQ Tires

We are happy to announce that Mike Gee has signed with TMA Motorsports and GQ America to represent GQ racing tires during the 2010 and 2011 racing seasons.
